Dance is the theme of Mikaela Dorfel’s original Double Candleholder design for Menu which is created in polished stainless steel. Mikaela Dörfel, who studied design and currently resides in Hamburg, was born and raised in Finland and was strongly influenced by the Scandinavian design tradition represented by Menu.
For her first assignment for Menu, Mikaela Dörfel found her inspiration in dance and movement. She has created a pair of tall, elegantly curved Double Candleholders that take hold of one another in a dance-like embrace. The body’s straight, robust forms and slim lines of the arm express a simple elegance where a combination of the masculine and feminine are united in a harmonious balance when the candle sticks are set close together.
